Benny Wray Peacock Obituary

Mr. Benny Wray “Trouble” Peacock, age 73, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday night (1/15/2026) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.

Born October 31, 1952, in Jesup, Georgia, he was a son of the late Luther Moultrie and Virginia Elaine Johnson Peacock.  Living most of his life in Pierce County, he was a 1970 graduate of Blackshear High School. He had worked as a truck driver, mechanic, and a self-employed handyman through the years.

A faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, he attended the Men’s Sunday School Class and had taught the Youth Sunday School Class for many years and helped with Vacation Bible School.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Kay Chancey Peacock; and a brother, W. L. “Dub” Peacock.

Survivors include his 2 children, Virginia Michelle Lee (husband Dewayne) and Marie Peacock Cason (husband Danny), both of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Annabeth Lee, Marissa Robinson (husband Devin), Colton Haire ( wife Kelsee), Ashleigh Haire, Trey Cason (Lore), and Jon Cason (wife Blake); 9 great grandchildren, Percy Robinson, James “Wally” Haire, Liam Wray Haire, Skylar Partin, Maverick Binder, Hazel Cason, Warren Cason, Rockston Cason, and Walt Cason; 2 sisters,   Gwen Barber (husband Bill), and Sue Dowling, both of Blackshear; brother, Demory Peacock (wife Chan) of Blackshear; 4 sisters-in-law, Wanda Peacock of Waycross, Janice Lowe (husband Keith) and Joyce Sapp (husband Sammy), both of Brantley County, and Faye Chancey of Colesburg, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will take place Monday morning (1/19/2026) at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Raulerson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
